ABOUT
JD Davis is a writer, philosopher, folklorist, and radical theologian. His primary research interests can be found at the intersection of religion/folklore, the history of medicine, and critical theory (primarily psychoanalysis), with a particular emphasis on the literature and art of the early modern period (roughly 1500-1700). By seeking to bridge the gaps that separate these disparate fields, JD’s intersectional project aims to reassess the roles of theology, embodiment, and subjectivity in our everyday experiences with the Other.
JD studied at Appalachian State University (B.A 2015) and Harvard Divinity School (M.T.S. 2018), where he studied religion, literature, and culture. He was born on a farm in rural North Carolina, and currently resides somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where you can find him haunting the local coffeeshops.
